Nathalie Baye (born 6 July, 1948) is one of the most celebrated and well-respected French actresses of her generation known for her intelligence and range. Initially trained as a dancer, she began acting in 1970. Her big break came with her role as the script girl in
Francois Truffaut’s
La Nuit américaine (Day For Night, 1973). In 1981 she won the first of four César Awards for her performance in
Jean-Luc Godard’s
Sauve qui peut (Every Man for Himself, 1980).
