Barbet Schroeder (b. August 26, 1941) is an internationally renowned director, producer, and actor, known for his versatility and for the controversial subject matter of his films. His company “Les Films du Losange” which he set up at the age of 22, produced a number of important New Wave films, most notably Erich Rohmer’s “Moral Tales” series. His work as a director has ranged from the 60s counter-culture hit More (1969), to the classic documentary portrait of Général Idi Amin Dada (1974), and from the sexually graphic Maîtresse (1976), to mainstream Hollywood vehicles such as the Oscar-nominated Reversal of Fortune (1990) and Single White Female (1992). |
