Laszlo Szabo (born 24 March, 1936) fled Hungary in 1956 and became friends with some of the best-known New Wave directors. He subsequently became a kind of mascot of the movement, appearing in offbeat supporting roles in films by Jean-Luc Godard, Eric Rohmer, Jacques Rivette, Claude Chabrol and others.
