Gerard Depardieu (27 December, 1948) is a larger than life figure and one of the most acclaimed actors in French cinema history. For his many film roles he has won a number of awards, including a César Award for Best Actor for his role in Francois Truffaut’s Le Dernier Métro (The Last Metro, 1981) and an Academy Award nomination for the title role in Cyrano de Bergerac (1990).
